Club History
The Wasatch N Scale Model Railroad Club was formally organized in 2006, but its roots reach back into the late 1970s or early 1980s according to the account of one of the original members of ‘Utah N Rail Modelers’, or UNR, as it was called. The complete history can be found in the document below.
Club Bylaws and Membership
If you are interested in joining the club, you should review our bylaws and constitution, linked below. We have monthly meetings which members are expected to attend; members are also asked to participate in club functions and exhibits to the extent that they are able.
Prospective members should fill out a membership application and submit it to the club for review. Club membership eligibility is determined by the club members, following the process outlined in the bylaws. We welcome all who are passionate about the model railroading hobby to join us and participate!
Modular? What does that mean…?
Each member of the club builds and maintains their own ‘Module’, or in some cases, multiple modules, which are linked together with some club owned assets and other members’ modules to create a large, flexible, modular model railroad layout. This gives more people an opportunity to fully participate in, and enjoy the hobby of model railroading without the commitment of a large, fixed layout at home! Besides, it is also a great chance to get together and have fun running trains! A great write-up about what a ‘Module’ is can be found on the NMRA Web site.
In order to insure interoperability with other members’ modules, and contribute to a (hopefully)trouble free running environment, the club maintains a set of standards and best practices. Not all club members have modules, but if you are interested in building one, you should review these standards so your module will integrate properly when we get together.
