Club history
Formally organized in 2006.
Wasatch N Scale was formally organized in 2006, but the club’s roots reach back further.
According to the account of one original member, those roots extend to the late 1970s or early 1980s and a group known as Utah N Rail Modelers, or UNR. A longer account of the club’s history is preserved in the club records.
Historical note: The early timeline is presented as a member account, matching the qualification used by the previous website.
Modular railroading
What does “modular” mean?
Members can build and maintain one portable section—or several—without committing space at home to one large, permanent railroad.

Individual members build and maintain their own module or group of modules.

Connect
Member modules connect with club-owned assets to form a larger, flexible layout.

Operate
Members gather to run trains, share knowledge, and enjoy the combined railroad.
Shared standards make the pieces work together.
The club maintains standards and best practices so independently built modules can integrate and operate together reliably. Members do not have to own a module, but anyone interested in building one should review the standards before getting started.
